Charter flights at Stansted airport suffered a drop in punctuality during 2006 compared with 2005, the average flight delay increasing from 22 minutes to 24 minutes and on-time performance reducing from 70% to 64%.
However, the proportion of charter flights delayed extensively (by over three hours) actually reduced year-on-year.
Compared with the UK average, charter flights at Stansted had a better punctuality profile during 2006.

MyTravel Airways stood out as the most punctual UK charter airline at London Stansted during the summer 2006 season, recording an average delay of just 5 minutes and 90% on-time performance.
Thomsonfly and Thomas Cook Airlines both demonstrated very good punctuality performance, with around 77%-84% on-time performance and average delays of around 14 minutes.
First Choice Airways followed in 4th position with slightly below average punctuality, while the worst timekeeping performance was seen for Monarch Airlines and XL Airways, though both carriers operated a small volume of flights at Stansted over the period.

Thomas Cook Airlines achieved the most punctual performance at Stansted airport over the winter 2005 / 2006 season, with an average delay of just 9 minutes and an impressive 89% of flights operating on time.
First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly followed with average performance, and the small number of flights by Monarch Airlines over the season recorded the worst punctuality at the airport with an average delay of 48 minutes.
