Charter flight delays at Newcastle airport were higher during the year to June 2008 compared with the same period the previous year, the average delay increasing from 21 minutes to 26 minutes, with a two percentage point reduction in on-time performance to 73%.
Despite the increase in delays, Newcastle charter flights were more punctual than the UK average during the year, except in the case of delays in excess of three hours which were slightly more common at Newcastle.

The average charter flight at Newcastle airport was delayed by around 23 minutes, with 73% on-time performance during the first three months of the summer 2008 season.
Thomas Cook Airlines had the best punctuality at the airport with 75% on-time performance and an average delay of less than 19 minutes.
Thomsonfly / First Choice followed closely behind, also maintaining an average delay of less than 20 minutes, while XL Airways and Monarch Airlines suffered the longest delays, with a high proportion of flights delayed by over an hour.

MyTravel Airways and Thomsonfly were the most punctual UK charter airlines at Newcastle during the winter 2007 / 08 season, both achieving excellent timekeeping. MyTravel had the lowest average delay while Thomsonfly had slightly better on-time performance.
Thomas Cook Airlines also had good punctuality at the airport during the season with an average delay of 16 minutes recorded and 73% on-time performance.
First Choice Airways was the least punctual carrier at the airport with an average delay of 36 minutes recorded for the small number of flights operated during the season.
