Charter flight delays at Newcastle airport remained broady similar in 2006 compared with 2005, the average flight delayed by 21 minutes and 76% of flights operating on-time.
This performance was better than the UK average for flight delays during the year.

MyTravel Airways were the most punctual UK charter airline at Newcastle during the 2006 summer season, with excellent timekeeping demonstrated (92% on-time performance and just 6 minutes average delay).
Thomas Cook Airlines were in second position with good punctuality, recording an average delay of 16 minutes and 76% on-time performance, and XL Airways followed with only slightly poorer performance with a 19 minute average delay.
Thomsonfly achieved good on-time performance at Newcastle (79%), their average delay however was impacted by a higher proportion of longer hold-ups, particularly in excess of 3 hours which was the case for around 1 in 40 flights.
Flyjet flights recorded an average delay of 24 minutes and 70% on-time performance.
Monarch Airlines, despite having a relatively small operation at Newcastle, had the worst punctuality at the airport over the season to date, with less than 20% of flights (1 in 5) operating on-time and a significant 53% of all flights operating over an hour behind schedule.

Only MyTravel, Thomas Cook and Thomsonfly had a significant number of charter flights at Newcastle over the winter 2005 / 2006 season. MyTravel had by far the best timekeeping performance, with 88% of flights on time and the average flight delayed by only 6 minutes.
Thomas Cook had good punctuality with 84% on-time performance and an average delay of 11 minutes, and Thomsonfly had the poorest punctuality with the average delay at 19 minutes and 74% of all flights operating on time.
