Charter flights at Newcastle during 2005 suffered a significant increase in average delay compared with 2004, caused by an increase in extensive delays in excess of 1 hour and 3 hours respectively, while on-time performance has remained broadly the same.
The general trend for charter flights at all UK airports during 2005 was also for a drop in punctuality, and charter flights at Newcastle remained comfortably more punctual than the UK average in 2005.

Thomsonfly and MyTravel Airways were the most punctual UK charter airlines at Newcastle during the summer 2005 season, with average delays of around 10 minutes. MyTravel had the best on-time performance at the airport (91%), but their average delay was slightly affected by a larger proportion of longer delays.
First Choice Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines also had good punctuality in 3rd and 4th position respectively, while Monarch Airlines and Excel Airways had the worst punctuality at Newcastle, particularly Excel whose flights operated on average nearly 45 minutes behind schedule.

Britannia Airways demonstrated excellent punctuality at Newcastle over the winter 2004 / 2005 season, with an average delay of less than 7 minutes and on-time performance of 87% recorded.
Thomas Cook Airlines also had good timekeeping at the airport, with 85% of flights on time, while MyTravel Airways, the only other significant operator of charter services at Newcastle over the season, had the poorest punctuality with 75% on-time performance but a relatively high level of extensive delays in excess of three hours resulting in an average delay of 24 minutes for the airline.
