Charter flights at London Luton airport suffered a sharp decline in punctuality during 2006 compared with 2005, the average delay increasing from 18 minutes to 24 minutes and on-time performance reducing from 74% to 67%.

Despite the increase in delays, charter flights at London Luton were more punctual than the UK average during 2006.

Thomas Cook Airlines, who operated a relatively small volume of flights at Luton, were the most punctual carrier during the summer 2006 season, with an average delay of 13 minutes.

Thomsonfly, the largest operator of charter flights at Luton, were in second position with an average delay of 21 minutes.

First Choice Airways, the second largest charter flight operator at Luton, were in third position with an average delay of 21 minutes.

Monarch Airlines operated a relatively small number of charter flights at Luton during the period, but had the poorest punctuality at the airport managing to operate only 1 in 3 flights on-time.

The best punctuality performance during the winter 2005 / 2006 season at Luton was demonstrated by Flyjet, who achieved very good timekeeping for the relatively small number of services operated at the airport, the average flight delayed by only 12 minutes.

Thomsonfly, the largest operator of charter flights at the airport, followed closely in second position, while services by First Choice Airways suffered the longest delays during the season.
