Charter flights at Gatwick remained less punctual than the UK average during the year, and the airport was the worst for charter flight delays of all 10 UK reporting airports.

The average charter flight at London Gatwick airport was delayed by 34 minutes during the summer 2008 season, with 58% on-time performance recorded. This represents the worst summer season timekeeping at the airport since we began analysing records in 2003.
XL Airways had the shortest delays with the average flight operating 25 minutes behind schedule and 67% on-time performance. Thomsonfly / First Choice followed with an average delay of 26 minutes but much lower on-time performance than XL at 60%.
Monarch Airlines and Thomas Cook Airlines had the poorest punctuality at Gatwick during the period, with average delays of 45 minutes and only around 50% on-time performance. In the case of Thomas Cook Airlines, over 20% of all flights were delayed by over an hour.

Thomsonfly and MyTravel Airways had the best punctuality at Gatwick during the winter 2007 / 08 season, with an average delay of around 25 to 30 minutes recorded and on-time performance of 65% and 72% respectively for the airlines.
XL Airways, First Choice Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines followed with close to average puctuality at the airport, while Monarch Airlines and Astraeus had the poorest timekeeping during the season with on-time performance levels of 50% or less.
