Punctuality of charter flights at London Gatwick airport during 2007 improved year-on-year, with Manchester airport replacing Gatwick as the least punctual for charter flights in the UK.
The average charter flight delay at Gatwick reduced from 32 minutes to 27 minutes and on-time performance increased from 62% to 63%.
Despite the improvement in punctuality, charter flights at Gatwick remained slightly less punctual than the UK average during 2007.

Thomsonfly was the most punctual UK charter airline at London Gatwick during the summer 2007 season, with good timekeeping demonstrated and an average delay of 17 minutes recorded.
MyTravel Airways was in second position by average delay, but boasted the highest on-time performance at the airport of 77%.
XL Airways, First Choice Airways, Thomas Cook Airlines and Monarch Airlines all followed with slightly below average punctuality at the airport, and Astraeus charter flights were at the bottom of the league table with an average delay of 32 minutes.

Thomsonfly recorded the best punctuality of any UK charter airline at London Gatwick during the winter 2006 / 07 season, with an average delay of 20 minutes and 67% on-time performance.
This was followed by First Choice Airways with a similar average delay but lower on-time performance of 62%.
Aside from these two carriers all other UK charter airlines had relatively poor punctuality at Gatwick during the season, with average delays ranging from 34 minutes (Thomas Cook Airlines) to 55 minutes (XL Airways).
MyTravel Airways had the best on-time performance at the airport (68%), but their average delay of 45 minutes was adversely affected by a higher proportion of long delays.
Charter flights operated by Astraeus and Monarch Airlines were delayed by around 48 minutes on average, with 1 in 5 flights operating over an hour late.
XL Airways had the worst punctuality with a remarkably high proportion of flights (1 in 12) delayed extensively, by over three hours. Their average delay of 55 minutes represents the worst performance at Gatwick for the airline during any season since we began analysing records.
