The punctuality of charter flights at London Gatwick during 2006 dropped slightly year-on-year with a small increase in the average delay and a small drop in on-time performance recorded.
However the proportion of flights delayed by over an hour did fall slightly.
Compared with the UK average, Gatwick charter flights had longer delays during 2006.

Thomsonfly had the best punctuality at London Gatwick during the 2006 summer season, with an average delay of 21 minutes and only 1 in 13 flights at the airport delayed by over an hour.
Thomas Cook Airlines and MyTravel Airways followed in second and third position respectively, the latter having the best on-time performance at the airport (74%), but having their overall punctuality at the airport slightly affected by a relatively high proportion of longer delays.
First Choice Airways were in fourth place, the biggest charter airline at Gatwick and top of the punctuality league table for summer 2005, with an average delay of 27 minutes recorded.
Astraeus had below average delay performance at Gatwick, while XL Airways, Monarch Airlines and Flyjet had the worst punctuality over the season to date with only between 52% and 59% on-time performance for the carriers and in the case of Flyjet a high proportion of very extensive delays.

The winter 2005 / 2006 season saw three UK charter airlines at the top of the league table, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomsonfly and MyTravel Airways, all demonstrating average punctuality.
Astraeus, First Choice Airways and Excel Airways followed the leading carriers, while Monarch Airlines and Flyjet had the worst performances of the season with less than half of their flights operating on time.
