Charter flights at Edinburgh Airport suffered longer delays during the rolling year to date when compared with the same period the previous year, the average delay increasing sharply from 21 to 33 minutes and on-time performance falling from 68% to 59%.

Monarch Airlines was the only charter airline operating a significant number of flights at Edinburgh during the summer 2010 season, with below average timekeeping recorded, the average flight operating 31 minutes late and only 57% of flights on-time.

A small number of flights operated by Thomson Airways had excellent punctuality, with Thomas Cook Airlines flights recording 64% on-time performance. The small number operated by Viking Airlines suffered the longest delays, with over a quarter of Viking flights at the airport being held up by over an hour.

Only Thomson Airways operated a significant number of charter flights at Edinburgh during the winter 2009 / 10 season, with long delays averaging 48 minutes and 53% on-time performance. More than 1 in 6 Thomson charter flights at the airport was delayed by over an hour.
