Charter flight delays at Birmingham airport increased during the year to October 2008 compared with the same period the previous year, with the average flight delayed by 24 minutes and 67% on-time performance, the worst annual charter punctuality performance seen at the airport since we began analysing records in 2003.
Despite this, charter flights at Birmingham airport maintained a better punctuality profile during the year to date than the UK average.

The average charter flight at Birmingham airport was delayed by around 22 minutes, with 68% on-time performance, during the summer 2008 season, the worst seasonal performance seen for charter flights at the airport since we began analysing records in 2003.
Monarch Airlines charter flights had the best punctuality at the airport with 76% on-time performance and an average delay of less than 15 minutes. XL Airways and Thomsonfly / First Choice followed with approximately 67% on-time performance and nearly 1 in 12 flights delayed by over an hour.
The longest delays seen at Birmingham were for Thomas Cook Airlines charter flights, with 1 in 8 services at the airport delayed by over an hour during the season.

Monarch Airlines and MyTravel Airways were the most punctual UK charter airlines at Newcastle during the winter 2007 / 08 season, both achieving excellent timekeeping. Monarch had the lowest average delay while MyTravel had better on-time performance.
Thomas Cook Airlines also achieved good punctuality with an average delay of 15 minutes and 74% on-time performance.
Thomsonfly were in fourth position with slightly below average punctuality at the airport, followed by First Choice Airways and XL Airways who suffered the longest delays, XL achieving only 49% on-time performance for the season.
