Despite the improvement, XL punctuality remained poorer than the UK average during 2007, with the exception of on-time performance which was actually 2% points higher than the UK average during the year.

Manchester and London Gatwick were the only UK reporting airports with a significant number of XL Airways charter flights during the winter 2006 / 07 season.

Punctuality was better at Manchester than London Gatwick, with an average delay recorded of 41 minutes and 55 minutes respectively for the airports.

Both of these represent poor statistics, particularly at London Gatwick where less than half of all XL Airways flights operated on-time and nearly 1 in 5 flights was delayed by over an hour.

As a result the winter 2006 / 07 season was the worst season on record for XL Airways punctuality.
