Thomsonfly achieved second place overall punctuality during the summer 2005 season, closely following the performance of the most punctual airline of the season, First Choice Airways.
Despite the high ranking, the average delay increased significantly for the airline from 13 minutes to 18 minutes and on-time performance dropped by 5%, when compared with the same period in 2004.
Newcastle, London Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow all had good performance over the season, but it was airports where Thomsonfly operated the majority of its charter flights like Manchester and London Gatwick where poorer punctuality adversely affected the overall average delay.

Thomsonfly (then known as Britannia Airways) suffered a slight drop in punctuality during winter 2004 / 2005 compared with the previous winter season, with the average flight delay up by nearly 3 minutes to 18 minutes, the on-time performance down two percentage points to 76% and the proportion of flights delayed over an hour up slightly to 1 in 14 services, from 1 in 17.
Despite these factors, the airline attained the leading position of any analysed charter airline at UK reporting airports during the season.
Analysis by airport shows that, in common with the summer 2004 season, Thomsonfly flights to and from Newcastle suffered the fewest delays with the vast majority (87%) operating on time and only around 1 in 50 services delayed by over an hour. Good punctuality was also seen at Edinburgh, London Stansted, Birmingham and London Luton, all of which had average delays of less than 15 minutes and around 80-85% on-time performance.
The significant factor influencing the overall average Thomsonfly delay was a poor performance at London Gatwick, where the average service operated over 25 minutes behind schedule and nearly 1 in 10 flights operated over an hour late.
Aside from being the most punctual analysed charter airline overall during the season, Thomsonfly was also the most punctual analysed charter carrier at Edinburgh, Newcastle and London Stansted.
