The punctuality of Thomas Cook charter flights declined significantly during the year to date compared with the same period the previous year, the average delay increasing by nearly 50% from 21 minutes to 31 minutes. On-time performance fell from 72% to 64%.
Thomas Cook punctuality was slightly poorer than the UK charter average during the year to date, having been better than average during the previous year. The exception was on-time performance which was similar to the UK average during the period.

The average Thomas Cook Airlines flight was delayed by 33 minutes during the first three months of the summer 2008 season with 59% on-time performance recorded.
Flights operating at Newcastle had the best timekeeping with an average delay of less than 19 minutes and 75% on-time performance. This was followed by Birmingham, London Stansted, London Luton and Glasgow all of which had lower than average delays for the airline and on-time performance levels ranging from 58% to 67%.
Manchester and London Gatwick, Thomas Cook's largest bases, recorded the worst punctuality for the airline during the period with average delays of 36 minutes and 39 minutes respectively, and on-time performance levels of 57% and 55%. At London Gatwick, where the airline was the least punctual charter airline during the period, nearly 1 in 5 Thomas Cook charter flights recorded delays of over an hour.

Thomas Cook charter flights at Birmingham and Newcastle recorded good punctuality during the winter 2007 / 08 season, with average delays of around 15 minutes and on-time performance in excess of 70%.
Flights at London Stansted, Glasgow and Manchester had close to average punctuality for the airline, while the longest delays during the season were seen at London Gatwick with less than 55% on-time performance and 1 in 7 flights delayed in excess of 1 hour.
