|
Punctuality of Monarch charter flights during 2003 improved slightly compared with 2002, though maintaining a poorer punctuality than the average for all charter flights in the UK.
The average delay was 24 minutes with 70% on-time performance and 1 in 10 flights delayed by over an hour.

Monarch charter flights during the summer 2003 season achieved similar on-time performance compared to the summer 2002 figures.
In summer 2003 the average flight was delayed just over 22 minutes, with a small reduction in delays over one hour and the proportion of extensive delays (3 hours or more) staying roughly the same.
The highest proportion of Monarch charter flights analysed were at London Gatwick airport, where 1 in 9 services was held up over an hour.

The winter 2002 / 2003 period saw the average Monarch charter flight delayed be nearly 33 minutes on-time performance at less than 61% for the carrier. Flights to and from Birmingham demonstrated the best punctuality, with good all-round performance.
Glasgow showed similar results although these were based on a small number of flights. All other airports suffered more extensive delays, with London Gatwick flights in particular demonstrating just over 50% of flights on-time with 1 in 6 services over an hour late and almost 1 in 20 services over 3 hours late.
