First Choice Airways charter flights showed a drop in punctuality year-on-year in all delay categories during 2004.

The general year-on-year trend for all UK charter flights in 2004 was also for a reduction in punctuality, but the First Choice data shows better punctuality than the UK average.

First Choice Airways achieved third position over the Summer 2004 season, with average punctuality performance demonstrated. The average service was delayed 18 minutes, with 75% on-time performance and 1 in 15 flights held up over an hour. This is a slightly disappointing performance when compared with the same period in 2003, when First Choice had an average delay of 13 minutes and 81% on-time performance.

First Choice flights from London Luton and Birmingham were the most punctual of any analysed UK charter carrier at those airports.

Air 2000, which became First Choice Airways during the recent Winter 2003 / 2004 season, continued their excellent punctuality record with the average flight delayed only 15 minutes and over 75% on-time performance across the analysed network. Particularly good results were seen for services at Birmingham, London Luton, Glasgow, Manchester and London Stansted all achieving in excess of 80% average on-time performance.

Air 2000 flights at London Gatwick suffered a poor winter season in relation to other bases, with average delays of over 20 minutes largely attributable to a higher proportion of flights operating over an hour behind schedule. This dip in performance at London Gatwick in particular has been a feature of Air 2000 flight punctuality for the past two Winter seasons, despite good Summer punctuality performance for the carrier at the airport.
